Politics, Power and Gender Justice in the Anglophone Caribbean: Women’s Understandings of Politics, Experiences of Political Contestation and the Possibilities for Gender Transformation

CALL FOR RESEARCHERS
Dear Colleagues,

The Institute for Gender and Development Studies, UWI, St. Augustine campus (IGDS) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) have collaborated to undertake the proposed research, Politics, Power and Gender Justice in the Anglophone Caribbean: Women’s Understandings of Politics, Experiences of Political Contestation and the Possibilities for Gender Transformation. This research projects seeks to investigate global strategies for advancing democratic governance, women’s rights and gender equality in the Anglophone Caribbean.

The main outcome of this research project is the publication of an edited book collection on women rights, gender justice and democratic governance in the Anglophone Caribbean. As such, we invite senior and junior social science researchers, with relevant experience to contribute to data collection, data analysis and writing of a chapter on the following thematic area:

Women’s Political Leadership
Electoral Quota Systems
National Gender Policies

Data Collection will involve 3-4 months of on-site field research in either Trinidad (Women’s Political Leadership), Guyana (Electoral Quota Systems) or Dominica (National Gender Policies) from January 2013 – May 2013 for 40 hours per week (25 hours in the field; 15 hours writing up field notes). The duration of the research contract is from October 2102 – December 2013, with a book chapter being the final output.
